Joanna Cheung,

Joanna is a clinical social worker and a certified art therapist. She obtained her Masters in Social Work in England, U.k. and her diploma in art therapy from the Vancouver Art Therapy Institute. She specializes in areas of chronic and acute mental health, including depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, chronic pain, stress, anger, grief and loss, life transitions, and health related issues. She speaks fluent English and Cantonese, and some Mandarin.

Joanna is a registered member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, the Ontario Association for Social Workers, and the Canadian Art Therapy Association.

Professionally, she is trained in Art Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy and Traumatic Incident Reduction.

Joanna has more than 30 years of social work experience including employment at Refugee Camps in Hong Kong, Child and Family Services in England, Children’s Aid Society and Community Care Services in Toronto, and a hospital mental health clinic in York Region. In addition to her professional experience, Joanna also volunteers in different Christian ministries, including being a Sunday school teacher for many years.

Joanna is compassionate and calm. She understands that culture, race, age, gender, religion, and family form our identity. She takes a holistic and person centered approach when working with clients, empowering, and encouraging them to make positive changes in their lives.  

When she has spare time, Joanna enjoys camping and gardening in the summer, reading and cooking in the winter. She enjoys time with her family and friends throughout the year.

Hours:  Wednesdays evenings.
